Art - Mrs. Ryan
The art room is always a very busy room! The upper grade students are presently working on scenery for the Spring Show. The lower school students are learning about various artists.
Grades K and First Grade are learning about the artist Piet Mondrian.
Grade 2 is being inspired by Pablo Picasso.
Grades 3 and 4 are learning about an artist who is favored by children for his depiction of dreamy scenes and use of bright colors, the Russian born, Marc Chagall.

Winter Spatial Landscape
Use colored pencils to add color and values to your snow scene. Be sure to use darker values and larger images in the foreground, and middle values and medium size in the middle ground.
The background should be in the smallest scale and the lightest values.

Pine Bough Still Life
Finish coloring in your pine cone. Use 3 values of brown throughout. Use a white or off white to add highlights. Color the negative space around the pine needles with light green, dark green and light blue. Leave some white around the outer area.

Symbols of Poland
Draw and color 3 symbols of Poland on each of the 3 inch squares which you received in class.
Welcome to 2017!
This month's classes are inspired by winter. Grades K and 1 are using collage and paint techniques to create snowmen. Grades 2 and 3 are using the technique, tissue bleeding, to create winter scenes. Grade 4 is using lines and shapes to create a winter Manhattan skyline.
Grades 6 is exploring the elements of value and space by sketching barren winter trees.
Grade 5 is experimenting with color theory by studying Wassily Kandinsky and creating abstract circle trees.
Grades 7 and 8 are using color value and paint to create pine and birch tree scenes.
All in all, art is great way to explore the beauty of winter within our nice, warm art room!

Completely finish your Romero brito style Christmas symbol. ALL areas of your positive and negative spaces must be colored. You should include designs within half of these spaces. Use colored pencils. Trace over designs in markers. Black looks best.
